Marijuana complaints continue to rise

In the month of March there have been seven complaints of marijuana, and three complaints that took place in the last two weeks according to Police Capt. Fernando Solorzano.

University Police recieved a call on the night of March 2 around 11:30 p.m. from the Parkside Dorms M Building of a complaint of the use of marijuana. Police cited the individual for possesion of less than ounce of marijuana.

According to the University Police Media Log on March 8 at 10:56 p.m. in the Los Altos Hall police responded to a complaint of marijuana use. There were total of four subjects, all denied smoking marijuana. One individual ended up admitting to smoking and was cited.

Ex gang member turns out clean

Upon entering the elevator on the second floor of the library on Tuesday May 3, 2011. Officer Choim noticed a tall Hispanic man with mulitple gang tattoos on his arms. He followed the student out of the library and to the bus stop where he was then questioned on the back side of the LA 1 building stairs.

The gang tattoos consisted of "L.A." and some rather noticeble gang tattoos. However, Officer Choi wasn't able to say what gang specifically. After asking the man a few questions as to why he was on campus Choi ran his record.

The man's record came back clean. However, he had three prior chargers on his record but took care of them.

At one point in his life, he was an active gang member and did some jail time. He turned his life around and now is a Registered Nurse and is in the process of getting his tattoos removed. He currently is going to school to get is masters.
