String of bike thefts plagues students

Bike theft continues to occur throughout multiple buildings around campus. Over four bike thefts have been reported for the month of March, and the month of March is only half way over. The most recent bike theft occurred March 9, 2011 around 3:25 p.m. at the Parkside Dorms.

University Police log report that "A report was taken referring the petty theft of a bicycle tire. The victim reports finding the front wheel missing from the bike which was secured to the bike near 'M' building. Loss is valued at $100.00; no suspect info at this time."

Also reported on the same day were two other bike thefts, one from Parkside Dorms and one from the Student Union. The student who reported the bike that was stolen from Parkside claimed it was stolen within the last two days but did not wish to file a police report at the time, with a similar situation happening at the Student Union where a student returned to the bike rack to find his bike missing.
